Watsonville, CA – “At this point in the year I did not expect to be in as good a shape as we are” explained Dave Kegebein, Interim Fair Manager.  He added “The tireless efforts of the volunteer management team, selfless uncounted hours of work by members of the community, and the generous financial support of sponsors, The Heritage Foundation and newly formed ‘Friends of the Fair’ account in large part for the improvement.”

Patrice Edwards, who along with Jeannie Kegebein and fair board member Bruce Oneto, helped form Friends of the Fair.  She reported recently that the group has raised over $16,000 in a relatively short period of time.

The rather better financial situation has allowed the management team and community volunteers to continue making improvements and repairs to the facility over the summer.  "The result is that our grounds look terrific and we’re in good shape to welcome the tens of thousands of visitors we expect next week” said Kegebein.

The gates open at noon on Tuesday, September 11, with $4.00 admission for seniors at the gate and service members invited in for free with military ID.

The Santa Cruz County Fair celebrates the rich agricultural history of our community and people, and invests heavily in bringing this heritage to our youth.  The 2012 Fair will be held September 11 - 16 at the Fairgrounds located on Highway 152 just east of Watsonville.  Information on the Fair, and the Fairgrounds - a year round entertainment and event venue, can be found at
