Look no further, Michael Bethke is the man with a plan. The day after the Santa Cruz County Fair ended in September, Bethke did a full assessment of the annual event, which saw upward of 70,000 visitors in 2010. The attendance nearly broke records, but Bethke had already settled on a new goal: 100,000 attendees the following year.

An estimated 43,000 people attended the 125th annual Santa Cruz County Fair this year, exceeding organizers’ expectations and beating previous years’ numbers by more than 5,000, fair manager Michael Bethke said Monday.
