FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
July 6, 2011

Watsonville, CA – The Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds on Highway 152 is known for a fall explosion of color that just happens to coincide with the annual September fair.  This array of flowering beauty doesn’t happen by accident but starts with the flower planting day in early each July.

Scores of volunteers will come together this Friday, July 8, 2011 to plant those annuals.  Anyone interested in spending a few short hours Friday afternoon between 5 and 7 PM is encouraged to come out to the Fairgrounds at 2601 East Lake Avenue and get a little dirt on their hands.  Bring the family for what is a very nice way to spend some quality time in a very beautiful setting.  Oh and bring a garden tool along if you have one.  The Heritage Foundation will serve the traditional hot dog dinner for all who help. But the biggest reward is to be found this fall when you stroll the Fairgrounds and see what your efforts have added to the best county fair anywhere!

The Santa Cruz County Fair celebrates the rich agricultural history of our community and people, and invests heavily in bringing this heritage to our youth.  The 2011 Fair will be held September 13-18, 2011 at the Fairgrounds located on Highway 152 just east of Watsonville.  This year’s theme is “Dancing with the Steers for 200 Years” which celebrates 200 years of modern agricultural fairs in America.  Information on the 2011 Fair, and the Fairgrounds - a year round entertainment and event venue, can be found at www.santacruzcountyfair.com
