Watsonville, CA – The next order of business for the Santa Cruz County Fair Management Team is to find an area artist to create the poster artwork for the 2014 Fair.

Artists wishing to offer their conceptualized ideas on the theme are encouraged to visit the Fair’s website santacruzcountyfair.com and click on the “Poster Artist Wanted” banner. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
November 27, 2013

Watsonville, CA – Hot on the boot heels of the very successful 2013 Santa Cruz County Fair the volunteer management team wasted no time starting the planning for 2014. First order of business, a theme.

Theme suggestions were solicited at the volunteer dinner held early October and from those suggestions the Fair department heads selected “Sew it  Grow it  Show it!”  This theme was crafted by Livestock Department Co Chair Dawn White.  The theme will inspire the often award winning poster art and be used by the various departments to build the displays that attract an increasing number of fairgoers each year.

The Santa Cruz County Fair celebrates the rich agricultural history of our community and people, and invests heavily in bringing this heritage to our youth.  The 2014 Fair will be held September 9-14 at the Fairgrounds located on Highway 152 just east of Watsonville.  Information on the Fair, and the Fairgrounds - a year round entertainment and event venue, can be found at www.santacruzcountyfair.com

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 17, 2013

Watsonville, CA – “What a great Fair!”  And it wasn’t just the hundreds of volunteers who made the 2013 Santa Cruz County Fair possible who were saying it.  Facebook posts, tweets, email messages, comments to the Fair’s survey team, even bits of conversation caught out on the grounds all could be distilled into one visitor’s comment “What a great Fair, the best one ever!”

The numbers confirm that it was also one of the most popular Fairs ever.  “We don’t have attendance figures quite yet, still counting” said Fair manager Dave Kegebein who added, “But we do know that revenue was up over 11 percent and our group of vendors did even better than that showing more than a 20 percent increase over last year.”

Santa Cruz County Company Supplies Innovative Lighting Systems

Watsonville, CA – There is something instantly recognizable about the distinctive outline on the horizon of a county fair carnival.  The Ferris Wheel usually gives it away, especially at night.  Brass Ring Amusements’ “Midway of Fun” at the Santa Cruz County Fair is noticeably brighter and that comes at a surprisingly lower energy cost and impact on the environment.

Harry Mason, owner of Brass Ring Amusements, explains “We’re happily going green and have already replaced 80% of the old incandescent light bulbs with new LED style bulbs.  In some cases, we have swapped out entire lighting systems in favor of the more energy efficient lights.  The Century Wheel, our Ferris Wheel, used to consume more than 100 amps of electricity but now only uses 12.5 amps.  This has reduced our energy consumption dramatically, and therefore reduces our carbon footprint.”
