Watsonville, CA – “It was a very good Fair” that comment from Santa Cruz County Fair manager Dave Kegebein summed up the 2014 edition of the county’s largest event. “Attendance was up nine percent and that’s on top of the eleven percent increase in 2013” he explained. Even more importantly, revenues outpaced attendance increases by a nice margin.

The healthy attendance numbers are also a nice reward for the volunteers who collectively spend thousands of hours making the Fair possible.  Kegebein was quick to give praise “Each year I am awed by the effort and dedication the volunteers give to their Fair.  It is very humbling to see how hard they work.”

Kegebein observed that the success of this year’s Fair helps build for the next year and tops off what has been an all-around good year for the Fairgrounds.  “Now if we can just get the county to execute the intersection improvements that have already been funded at Collage Road and Highway 152.  These improvements would allow traffic to flow to the Fairgrounds in a more orderly manner as we continue to grow our fantastic Fair” he added.

But at the risk of repeating himself Kegebein again observed, “It was a very good Fair!”

The 2015 Santa Cruz County Fair will be held September 15-20 at the Fairgrounds located on Highway 152 just east of Watsonville.  Information on the Fair, and the Fairgrounds - a year round entertainment and event venue, can be found at www.santacruzcountyfair.com
