We Have a Winner!

Watsonville, CA – The Santa Cruz County Fair is excited to announce the theme of the 2023 Fair and the winner of the Fair Theme Contest.

The Fair theme is “Home Grown and Locally Shown!

The theme beautifully captures the spirit of the Fair and the agricultural roots of the community.

The winning theme comes from Kathryn Doman of Watsonville. Not only is Kathryn a fan of the Fair, but she’s also a neighbor.

Santa Cruz County Fair Welcomes Ken Alstott

Watsonville, CA - My name is Ken Alstott.  Recently hired to Manager/Support the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds/14th District Agricultural Association.

I’m a retired Manager from the District Agricultural Association Fairs.  I’ve managed/consulted numerous Fairs over the past 18 years.  My vision is to ensure the Daily Operations of the fairgrounds and the upcoming Fair are met with high expectations.  This area has a wonderful Fair/Facility in which they should be proud.  We will work hard to maintain the appearance and customer service this Community expects.  Please continue to Volunteer and support your fairgrounds!

The 2023 Santa Cruz County Fair will be held September 13-17 at the Fairgrounds located on Highway 152 just east of Watsonville. Information on the fair and yearround entertainment and event venue can be found at santacruzcountyfair.com

County Fair Seeks a Fair Theme

Watsonville, CA - The Santa Cruz County Fair welcomes the return of their annual fair theme contest. Our county fair invites the community to submit theme ideas that would reflect the spirit of the County Fair in a few words. The theme should reflect the spirit of our diverse community in which we serve, the rich agriculture & agricultural history, youth in agriculture, or the many elements that make up our unique coastal fair.

The winner will receive a VIP Family Pack for four for this year’s fair that includes a parking pass, four admissions, and carnival wristbands.

The deadline for entry was April 7, at 5pm, but has been extended. Please check back for the new deadline.

Entries may be emailed to or mailed/handdelivered to: Santa Cruz County Fair, Theme Contest, 2601 East Lake Avenue, Watsonville, CA 95076.

Salinas Valley Charros & Escaramuza El Centenario

Watsonville, CA – It is a festive finale on the last day of the Fair.

The main arena (which hosted a horse show over the weekend) became the stage for the Charro Show. This year, the Salinas Valley Charros were joined by the Escaramuza El Centenario, a Charra group of highly skilled horse women.
