Watsonville, CA - It was May of 1941 when 105 acres of rolling pasture along Hecker Pass Road became the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds.  Yes, the Fairgrounds has been making much joy and a little noise for 70 years.  When that first Fair opened in October of 1941 there were few immediate neighbors.  But people came, perhaps drawn by the beautiful setting, and with them came the problem of living next to a Fairgrounds.

Watsonville, CA – The Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds on Highway 152 is known for a fall explosion of color that just happens to coincide with the annual September fair.  This array of flowering beauty doesn’t happen by accident but starts with the flower planting day in early each July.

Watsonville, CA - Santa Cruz County Fair Entertainment Director Read Zaro has announced the main stage lineup for the 2011 Fair.  Zaro explained “We start with Rubber Biscuit, a salute to the Blues Brothers on Tuesday evening.  Wednesday remains country night with “Steve Holy” and on Thursday evening journey along on a return visit by “Antsy McClain & The Trailer Park Troubadours.”

Watsonville, CA -- The “How To” guides on entering the many and varied divisions at the Santa Cruz County Fair are now available on line at the Fair’s website.  In addition, a limited number of printed guides can be found at local libraries, feed stores, and the Fair office located on East Lake Avenue (Highway 152) in Watsonville explained Emily Grunewald, the fair’s exhibit representative.
