Watsonville, CA - Santa Cruz County Fair Entertainment Director Read Zaro has announced the signing of this year's headline act. Friday evening the main Amphitheater Stage will host Blue Öyster Cult. BOC played to huge overflow crowds last summer at the Beach Boardwalk and the strong message was "Bring them back" said Zaro.

Watsonville, CA - The Santa Cruz County Fair Board of Directors has selected the theme for the 2009 edition of the Fair. "Barnyard Beach Party" blends the reality of the unique setting provided by Santa Cruz County. Manager John Kegebein observed "From where I stand during each fall Fair I can see the Monterey Bay and the rich bounty of agriculture. Yes, even a chicken coop."

Watsonville, CA - What involves a little dirt now translates into a lot of beauty this September. The scene is the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds and the task is to put 13,000 flower plants into dozens of flowerbeds.

Watsonville, CA - The first thousand visitors to the 2007 Santa Cruz County Fair will take home a special reminder of their day at the Fair. A commemorative pin symbolizing that fateful Tuesday six years ago reminds fair manager Yvette Jordan of the last September 11th opening day which occurred in 2001. "I wanted to give our guests a nice little something on opening day" said Jordan. " A lot of Fair folks like me just love these beautiful little pins. I want to thank Rick Simms of Pacific Coast Specialties for his work on the design."

Watsonville, CA - "We're looking for a few good ideas from which to choose the theme for the 2009 Fair" explained interim fair manager John Kegebein. "We will take theme suggestions through Friday, January 16, and then the board of directors will select a winner" added Kegebein.
